Wheatley Mini Rubgy

Training and Matches

Training

Training takes place on Sunday mornings from 10.30am to 12 noon. We usually allow a new member to have three ‘taster sessions’ before joining the Club officially so that the child can see if he/she will enjoy the activity. The children must be accompanied at all times by an appropriate adult as this increases their enjoyment and our social environment! It also ensures that in the unlikely case of injury, there is someone there who can reassure the child.

Coaching

Wheatley has an enthusastic and dynamic team of coaches for all age groups. Coaches are asigned to each team and stay with them all year. There is also back-up from other support coaches. All coaches are qualified and CRB checked. As a small club the coaching effort put into each child is higher and progress can be quick.

Matches

Matches also take place on Sunday mornings from 10.30am to 12 noon, although we ask parents to arrive earlier to make sure we are warmed up and ready. All children are given the same opportunity to play, not just the strongest. If the match is an away fixture the children are taken to the venue (usually local) by parents, so this can mean an earlier start. Each coach should have the relevant map or details of how to reach the venue. Sharing lifts is often a good idea. Hot dogs are provided on match days.
